What
Submit your timesheet so your assigned approver can review your logged hours for the configured approval period.
Why
  • Ensures your logged time is reviewed before it is used for billing, reporting, or project performance.
  • Gives your approver a clear submission to review, verify, approve, or send back for updates.
Who
Users who track time and have an assigned time approver can submit timesheets for approval.
When
Submit your timesheet at the end of your organization’s configured approval period. Timesheets may be submitted and approved weekly or monthly.

Before you start

  • Your site must have time approvals enabled.
  • You must have at least one time entry in the approval period you want to submit.
  • You must have access to My timesheet.
  • Your organization’s approval period determines whether timesheets are submitted and approved weekly or monthly.

Timesheet views and approval periods

Timesheet views and approval periods are separate. The view controls how you log and review time in My timesheet. The approval period controls when your timesheet is submitted and approved.

Options
Timesheet view
How you view and log time in My timesheet.
  • Sheet view: week or month.
  • Calendar view: day, week, or month.
Approval period
How often timesheets are submitted and approved.
Weekly or monthly, depending on your organization’s time approval settings.

Changing your timesheet view does not change the approval period. For example, you can use a weekly or monthly view while your organization submits timesheets monthly.

Open your timesheet

  1. Click Time in Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
  2. Select the My timesheet tab.
  3. Choose how you want to view your timesheet:
    1. Sheet view: tabular time entry by week or month.
    2. Calendar view: calendar-based time entry by day, week, or month.

Review and submit your timesheet

  1. Use the date selector in the top left to move to the relevant approval period.
  2. Review the time entries included in the period you are submitting.
  3. Make any updates needed to your time entries:
You can switch between available views to check your time before submitting. The submit banner reflects the configured approval period, not just the current view.
  4. Click Submit for approval. The button text may reference the configured period, such as submitting a week or a month for approval.
  5. Click Yes, submit timesheet in the confirmation pop-up window.

The submit action is not available from the daily Calendar view. Switch to a weekly or monthly view if you need to submit your timesheet for approval.

Why can't I submit my timesheet?

You might not see the submit option if your timesheet is not ready for approval.
  • No time entries exist for the approval period.
  • You are viewing a partial or incomplete period.
  • You are using the daily Calendar view.
  • You have already submitted the timesheet for review.
  • The timesheet has already been approved and locked.
  • You do not have the required permissions or an assigned approver.

After you submit your timesheet

  • Your assigned approver receives an email notification letting them know your timesheet is ready for review.
  • Your timesheet status changes to In review.
  • If you add time after submitting, your approver can see the additional time during review and may ask you to resubmit.
  • Your approver reviews your submitted entries in the Approvals area.
  • If everything looks correct, they approve your timesheet. Approved timesheets may be locked to prevent further edits.

Resubmit your timesheet

If your approver requests changes, update the relevant time entries and submit the timesheet again.
  1. Open My timesheet.
  2. Use the date selector to move to the relevant approval period.
  3. Update the time entries that need changes.
  4. Click Submit for approval again.

Approved timesheets

  • Approved timesheets may be locked to protect reviewed time from further edits.
  • If an approved timesheet needs updates, use Request to re-open timesheet where available.
  • After a reviewer re-opens the timesheet, make the required updates and submit it for approval again.

Best practices

  • Check the approval period: Confirm whether your organization submits timesheets weekly or monthly.
  • Use the right view: Switch between Sheet and Calendar views to review your time before submitting.
  • Submit consistently: Submit your timesheet at the end of each approval period to keep approvals moving.
  • Review before submitting: Check projects, tasks, billable time, descriptions, and totals before sending your timesheet for approval.
