Enable
time
approvals
Set up time approvals
and select which users
have access to view,
edit and approve all
submitted
time.
🔑 Approvers
can only
edit time logs from projects
they're a member of and have
permission to view time logs
on.
- Select your profile
icon in Teamwork.com's
main
navigation
menu.
- Click Settings.
- Switch to the Time tab.
- Toggle on the Enable time approvals option. You are added as an approver automatically.
- Click the plus icon (+) to open the people picker.
- Click the name of each user you want to add as an approver. Need to remove an approver? Click their name again to unselect.
The
selected
approvers
can
access the
Time
area's Approvals tab
and can
approve
submitted
time.
Submit time
for
approval
Submit your timesheets for
approval via the My
Timesheet area.
- Select Time from Teamwork.com's
main navigation menu.
- Click My timesheet.
- 📝 The option to submit your timesheet is visible in sheet view and in the calendar week view.
- Use the date range picker to navigate
to the timesheet period you want to
submit.
- Review your logged time for the period
to ensure all relevant time is
accounted
for in your timesheet. Missing some
entries? Log
additional
time to tasks and projects
in your timesheet before
submitting.
- Click Submit for approval. The submit button only becomes active once at least one time entry exists for the period being viewed.
- Click Yes, submit timesheet.
The timesheet is
submitted for
approval. An email is issued to
approvers at the end
of the working
week.
Resubmit
a timesheet
Once you submit a timesheet
for approval, an approver may request
changes via email.
- Open the email from
Teamwork.com.
- Click View timesheet in the email.
- Update the timesheet.
- Click Resubmit
timesheet. This
button is only active once you
make a change to the
timesheet's existing time
logs.
Manage
your approval request
notification preferences
Time
approvers
receive a
timesheet
approvals
email at
the end of
each
working
week stating
they have
timesheets
to
review.
Teamwork.com
sends
these
emails at
4pm local
time. Each
time approver can manage
their approval
notifications
from their profile
preferences.
- Select your profile icon from
Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
- Select Edit my details.
- Click the Preferences tab.
- Enable Receive time approval notifications. No longer want to receive notifications? Disable notifications by toggling off this option.
Review and
approve timesheets
Time approvers receive an email at
the end of each working week
with a list of time
submissions needing review and a link
to
the Approvals area in
Teamwork.com.
Time approvers can
access
the Approvals tab in-app at
any
time.
- Select Time from
Teamwork.com's main
navigation menu.
- Switch to the Approvals tab. All submitted
timesheets are listed, grouped
by user.
- Use the search and filter
options to locate particular
users' timesheets.
- Click the arrow on
a user's left to expand and
view their submitted
timesheets.
Step 1: Review a
user's timesheet
- Search for or scroll to the user whose timesheet(s) you want to review.
- Click the arrow on the user's left to view their submitted timesheets.
- Click the individual timesheet you want to review.
- Review the timesheet.
- The date and total logged time are displayed at the top of the timesheet.
- Time logs are listed by date. Details included project/task name, description, billable or non billable status, billed status (aka added to an invoice), and total time.
Step 2 (optional):
Edit the user's logged time
- Hover over an individual time log.
- Click the pencil icon.
- Edit the relevant time log details.
- Click Update.
Any changes made
are
instantly reflected on the
user's
timesheet.
Step 3
(optional): Request
changes
- Click Request changes in the timesheet's top right.
- Enter feedback in the text
field.
- Click Send
email.
A request email
is issued to
the submitter to update the
timesheet.
The timesheet is changed to "Needs
change" status.
Once the user has updated
any required
changes, they can resubmit the
timesheet
for approval.
Step 4: Approve
the user's timesheet
- Click Approve in the timesheet's top right.
An email is issued to the
submitter with the approver details.
Sort and filter

Use the timeframe selector in the Approvals page's top left to switch
between months.
Search
Use the search field to locate a
particular user.
Filter
- Click the Filter button
in the Approvals area's top right.
- Select a filter option:
- Approval status: In review,
Needs
changes, Approved.
- Client: Select one or
multiple
clients (also known as companies)
whose users you want to
view.

- Build habits: Create a
routine — check your timesheet
throughout the week to ensure
you're keeping track of your
time as you work and can
quickly review before
submitting for approval at the
end of the week.

Utilize the request changes
feature to address any time
tracking gaps and ensure
users' accuracy.
