Within Teamwork.com, you can manage sharing access for files uploaded as task attachments or directly uploaded in a project's Files section. These files are stored securely on Amazon S3 storage.

Restricted sharing (Teamwork.com site users only)

When you upload/access one of these linked files through Teamwork.com, the file's direct link takes a format like https://yourcompany.teamwork.com/#files/2827928.

If you share this URL, it is only accessible to people with login credentials for your site who also have project permission to view the file.

📝 We recommend using this method of sharing files from your Teamwork.com site with people who have site access.

External sharing

If you click to view a task attachment or project file directly in your browser (i.e. right click the file name in the file details view and open it in a new browser tab), the URL may start with "s3.amazonaws.com".

This URL contains a time-limited access code, so it is accessible to people without site login credentials for 15 minutes.

Share a file externally

  1. Hover over the file (on a task or Files area).
  2. Click the chevron (downward-facing arrow) button on the file's right.

  3. Select Share.
  4. Click the paper icon on the URL's right to copy it to your clipboard. You can then share this link with whoever you need to give access to the file to.

This is a direct download link — external people you share the link with can download a copy of the file during the 15-minute access window. Internal users retain access as long as they're logged in to your site while accessing the link.

  5. Click Finished.

Turn off external sharing

External file sharing can be managed (and turned off if necessary) in your site settings.

🔑 Owner company site admins can access and manage site settings.

  1. Click your profile icon in Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Switch to the General tab.
  4. Scroll to Can share files.
