Within Teamwork.com, single sign-on is offered as part of the paid Advanced Security subscription add-on.

Single sign-on (SSO)

SSO is a session/user authentication process that permits a user to enter one name and password in order to access multiple applications.

The process authenticates the user for all applications they have been given rights to and eliminates further prompts when they switch applications during a particular session.

Teamwork.com SSO

Teamwork.com’s SSO offering is part of the paid Advanced Security add-on which you can purchase in addition to your Teamwork.com subscription.

When Teamwork.com SSO is enabled for your installation:
  • Users can log in via SSO to any of the Teamwork.com products they have access to (on web & mobile).
  • SSO is also applied to Teamwork Desk's Customer Portal automatically.
📧 Please contact our support team at support@teamwork.com if you want to request SSO to be turned off for your Customer Portal.

The Teamwork.com product suite enables SSO via SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language).
  • SAML is an XML standard that allows secure web domains to exchange user authentication and authorization data.
  • Essentially, it removes the need for your users to log in to multiple applications in a particular browser session. Once they log in to one application via SSO, it exchanges authentication/authorization data with another service you have SSO set up with and automatically logs the user in.

Teamwork.com will auto-provision a user if they have never used a Teamwork.com product before, as long as that user exists in the customers directory service, has permission to access Teamwork.com, and therefore is verified by Identity Provider (this can be disabled).

📝 Please ensure that your IDP is locked down and can only provision users for your business. The users created by auto-provisioning will be added the the Teamwork.com site's owner company.

SSO exceptions

Currently, Teamwork.com's SSO offering does not cover the following:
  • Help Docs login (when Help Docs authentication is set up)
  • Managing user permissions
📧 If you feel that SSO access on our Help Docs or the ability to manage user permissions would be of use to you, please send your feedback to support@teamwork.com.
