Impersonate a user to see how they experience your site.

Who
  • Site owners and site admins (in the owner company) can impersonate individual users from any company (client).
    ⚠️ You cannot impersonate another site administrator (from any company).
When
  • You're onboarding a new team member or client and need to ensure they have the appropriate access rights.

Impersonate a user

  1. Select People in Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
  2. Switch to the People tab.
  3. Scroll to the relevant user.



  4. Click the user's name.
  5. Click the ellipsis (...) in the user profile's top right.
  6. Select Impersonate.



  7. Next:
    1. Navigate the site and projects to understand the user's permissions and experience.
    2. Make changes, if necessary (ex. update the user's contact information, log time, update a task).
      ⚠️ Any changes made while impersonating are recorded as made by the user you're impersonating.

A banner is displayed at the top of your screen indicating you're currently in impersonation mode, aka you're experiencing the site as the selected user would.
