Best for
Board view is best for
visual,
Kanban-style workflow management
across projects, reviewing stage
progress, and spotting bottlenecks
at
a glance.
Use
when
You want a visual, workflow-driven way to manage work across multiple projects and quickly see where tasks are currently sitting.
You want a visual, workflow-driven way to manage work across multiple projects and quickly see where tasks are currently sitting.

Before you
start
The Board view depends on workflows. Each
project can be linked to one workflow, and
each workflow can be associated with multiple
projects.
You only see tasks from projects you have
permission to access.
If no workflows exist and you have permission
to create one, you can select Create
workflow to open Settings >
Workflows and create one there.
Your permissions determine:
- Which workflows and tasks you can
view.
- Whether you can move tasks between
stages.
- Whether you can
create tasks in workflow stages or update
task details.
Quick start
- Click Everything in the main
navigation and select the Board tab.
- Choose a workflow from the workflow
selector.
- Review tasks in each stage, then use
search, sorting, or filters to focus on
the right work.
Once a workflow is selected, the board shows
all of that workflow’s stages and all tasks
currently in those stages across the
associated projects you can access.
You can manage tasks in this view in a
similar way to a project-level board, with
access to task details and actions based on
your permissions.
Use the Board
view
Understand the
layout
Board view displays the selected workflow as
a series of stages. Each stage contains tasks
from all associated projects that are
currently in that stage and that you have
permission to view.
Switch workflows
Use the workflow selector in the top left of
the board to switch between available
workflows.
When you select a workflow, the board updates
to show that workflow’s stages and all tasks
currently sitting in each stage across its
associated projects.

Tasks backlog
The Backlog stage is pinned on the
left side of the board.
It contains active tasks from the associated
projects that are not currently assigned to a
workflow stage.
Move tasks
between stages
Drag and drop a task card from one stage to
another to update its workflow stage.
Moving a task updates its stage in both the
workflow and the associated project
board.
Create tasks in a
stage
Create a task directly in a workflow stage by
clicking Add a task at the bottom of
the stage.
The selected project and task list default to
the last project and task list used. You can
change them, but only to projects associated
with the workflow and that you have permission
to add tasks to.
Update task
details
Hover over a task card to update key
properties such as assignee, tags, dates,
priority, estimated time, starting a timer, or
logging time.
Click a task card to open the task details
panel, where you can view and update full task
details, add comments, manage files, and take
other task actions.

Search tasks
Use the search field to refine the tasks
shown in the workflow.
Search returns tasks whose names match the
search term.
Sort tasks
Use the Sort by menu in the top right
of the board to organize tasks within
stages.
You can sort tasks by task name, due date,
assignee, priority, date created, task list,
or none.

Filter tasks
Use the Filter menu in the top right
of the board to narrow the tasks shown in
workflow stages.
- Assignee
- Dates
- Task status
- Other task properties and additional
workflow-related filters
- Saved
filters

By default, completed tasks are
hidden from workflow views. If expected tasks
are missing, check the Task status filter to include completed tasks.
Filter settings can also be used to hide
separate subtasks or show only tasks linked
with Desk tickets, where available.
More workflow
actions
Depending on your permissions, you may also
be able to collapse a stage or open workflow
settings from stage options.
Workflow management actions, such as editing
workflows, mapping stages, and configuring
automations, are available in Settings >
Workflows for users with permission to
manage workflows.
Limitations
- You only see tasks from projects you have
permission to access.
- Moving tasks between stages, creating
tasks, and editing task details are
permission-dependent.
- If no workflows exist, Board view cannot
show staged work until a workflow is
created and applied to projects.
- Each project can
only be linked to one workflow at a
time.
Best practices for
Board view
- Select the right workflow first:
Switch to the workflow that matches the
projects or process you want to
review.
- Use filters to focus your view:
Narrow the board when reviewing large
volumes of work.
- Review the backlog regularly: Check
unassigned tasks to ensure work is not
missed.
- Keep stages up to date: Move tasks
as work progresses so the board reflects
current status.
- Use the right
view for the task: Use Board for
visual workflow tracking, and switch to
Tasks or Table for detailed list or data
management.
