Create an
automation
Initiate new messages to be
posted in Teamwork Chat when specific
task-related events happen in your
projects.
- Switch to the List or Table view in any project.
- Click Automate at the top of the selected view to open the automation builder.
- Click Custom automation.a. Alternatively, choose a pre-defined Chat template and skip to step 3.
- Select a trigger event in the When section.a. Example trigger: Task's priority changes from Any to High.
- Choose Send Chat message to channel as the action
type in the Then section.
- Select an existing Chat channel (one you are a member of) in which to post messages triggered by the automation.
- Create the message template that will be sent each time a trigger event occurs. Combine static text with dynamic task fields to customize your messages.
- Click Create to save your automation.
A message is posted in the selected channel each time the trigger event occurs.

Edit, duplicate,
or delete existing automations
Existing automations are
listed in the automation builder.
- Click Automate at the
top of a project's List or Table view
to open the automation builder.
- Select the Manage tab.
- Click the ... (ellipsis).
- Choose the relevant option:
- View & Edit: View and update the automation's criteria.
- Duplicate: Create a copy of the automation.
- Delete: Remove the automation. Deletion too permanent? Use the toggle to activate/deactivate automations instead.

Best
practices
- Tell your team: Now that you've set up a Chat automation (and understand the benefits of the integration), share it with your team and recommend they start using it. Once everyone's connected, project communication becomes seamless!
- Contextual updates: Use
supported field variables to include key task information in automated Chat messages.
- Prioritization: Utilize
triggers involving changing priority
and due dates to receive updates about time-sensitive work.
