Within Teamwork.com, you can view a
detailed task view for each individual task in the Table view in individual projects and in the My Work area.
Clicking a task name in Table view will open the task details view. You can
also hover over the relevant task and press v on your
keyboard or click the Details link to the right of the task title.
Quick actions toolbar
At the top of the task details view,
you will see some quick action items for the
task.
The options available to you will depend on your project permissions:
- Estimated time - update the estimated time
allocated to the task.
- Log time - log time to the task.
- Timer - start a timer on the task.
- Subtasks - add subtasks to the task.
- Repeat - set the task to repeat.
- Note: Repeats cannot be set on subtasks.
- Reminders - add quick reminders for
yourself.
- Follow - add or remove yourself as a
follower of the task.
- Options:
- View history
- Modify properties
- Move or copy the task
- Make this task private / Edit privacy
- Note: Privacy cannot be
set on subtasks.
- Delete task
Hovering over the estimated time or logged time icons will display a pop-up detailing any existing estimated or logged time on the task and its corresponding subtasks.
Clicking any of the quick action options will open an additional menu to edit the property.
- For the timer option, a new timer will immediately start on the task once clicked.
- For the follow
option, clicking the eye icon will
automatically add or remove you as a follower.
Task properties
If the task being viewed has privacy already applied, this will be noted in a banner at the
top of the task details view.
To edit the task title or
description, click the field to activate edit
mode.
Below the task title, you
will see the main properties of the task.
These include assignee, dates, priority, and tags.
Associated board column, followers, creation details, progress, project, task list, task ID, and custom fields can
also be viewed by clicking See
more.
Each of these task properties can be
updated directly from the task details view.
Some options such as followers will open a
pop-up modal while others like as priority will
open a dropdown.
Subtasks
If the task being viewed has
associated subtasks, these will be displayed
below the current task's properties. Click
the Show option to the right
of the Subtasks heading to
view the subtasks.
Each subtask will display the task
title, start and due dates, and assignee, all
of which can be edited directly in this view.
Additional options to complete the subtasks or
add new subtasks are also included.
Clicking a subtask title within the
subtasks section of a task details view will
open an additional task details panel for that
subtask.
If the main task you are viewing is
a subtask or sub-subtask itself, you will see
a clickable link back to its parent task above
the task title.
Note: Privacy and repeats
cannot be set for subtasks.
Dependencies
Below the Subtasks section, you can view and manage existing dependencies as well as set new ones.
Click the dependency icon to the left of the task name to see how the dependency is currently set. You can also change the basis for the dependency here (blocked or waiting on).
For each dependency, you will see the corresponding task name, dates, and assignee.
Clicking the options button (three dots) to the right of a dependency will give you the option to remove the dependency.
Files
Under Attachments, you can view and manage file attachments on the task.
Hover over a file to access additional options to preview or download the file. Hovering over the file name will show who uploaded the file and the upload date.
Click the options button (three dots) to the right of the file name to edit the file details, upload a new version, or delete the file.
Note: The ability to edit existing files or upload new ones is dependent on your project permissions.
When you click the plus icon in the Attachments section, you can choose to upload a file in two ways:
- Add file - select a file from your computer.
- Select from my files - choose an existing file on the project.
Time
In the Time Logs section, you will see a summary total of any time already logged to the task. Hovering over this will show you a breakdown of logged, estimated, billable, non-billable, and billed time.
Click the Show option to the right of the Time Logs section to expand and view the individual time logs associated with the task.
Each existing time entry will show the assignee, description, logged date, quantity of time, billable status, and billed status.
- You can manage the billable status via the checkbox directly in this task details view.
- Clicking the three dots to the right of an entry will give you additional options to edit or delete the time log.
Below the logged time summary, you can also click Log more time to add another entry to the task. This will open a pop-up where you can fill out the relevant details for the time entry.
Comments
Any existing comments on the task
will be visible at the bottom of the task
details view.
When you click into the comment box
to add a new comment, the comment editor will
open with formatting options. Below the
comment field, you can also set who to notify,
privacy, and files, before saving your
comment.
