What

AI credits are the unit used to measure usage of credit-based TeamworkAI features. Every paid plan includes a monthly allocation of credits, and you can buy more if you need them.

Why

Pay only for the AI you use. Credits give you one stable unit, at one price, with a balance you control, rather than charging every user or exposing you to model pricing you cannot plan around.

Who

All fully licensed users on a paid plan draw from the account's shared balance. Site owners and admins manage AI settings and buy additional credits.

When

Credits are used when you run credit-based AI features or agents. AI credits come into effect on 10 November 2026.

What are AI credits?

AI credits are a unit of AI usage in Teamwork.com. Each credit is priced at $0.01.*

The number of credits an action uses depends on how much work it takes. Heavier work needs more context, more capable models and more compute, so a short summary uses fewer credits than an analysis across every project.

  • Included with your plan: Every paid plan includes a monthly credit allocation. You don't need to buy credits to use AI.
  • Shared across your account: Everyone on the account draws from the same balance.
  • One value: A credit is worth the same wherever it is spent.
  • Published changes: We may adjust the credits an action uses as the underlying technology changes. Any change is published before it takes effect.

Credits included with each plan

Your monthly allocation is set by your plan, not by the number of seats on your account.

Note: Free plans don't include a credit allocation. Adding or removing seats doesn't change your allocation; moving to a higher plan increases it.

You can view your credit balance in your site's admin area, alongside your plan and billing details.

Included AI features vs. credit-based features

Some TeamworkAI features are included with every paid plan and never use credits. Others draw from your credit allocation.

  • Included AI features: Available on every paid plan, including Basics. They keep working even when your credit allocation runs out. Reasonable-use limits apply to prevent abuse, but normal use won't reach them.
  • Credit-based features: Use credits each time they run. This includes scheduled or recurring AI actions, which draw credits on every run.

For the full list of which features are included and which use credits, see AI features and credit usage.

Tip: Anything running on a schedule is listed under Teammates. Admins can turn scheduled actions off individually from admin settings.

Note: You're never charged for AI usage you didn't opt into.

What your allocation covers

Your allocation covers all credit-based AI features, including the agents Teamwork.com provides, such as AI Teammates. Everyone on your site draws from this one shared balance.

Refresh, rollover and expiry

Important: Your monthly allocation doesn't roll over. Unused included credits expire at the end of each billing month, and your allocation refreshes in full on your billing date.

Annual plans

On an annual plan, credits are still issued monthly, not as twelve months up front. This means a heavy few weeks can't use up your whole year.

  • Annual plans include the same monthly allocation as monthly plans. Annual billing discounts the plan, not the allocation.
  • Credits are $0.01 each however you pay.
  • Top-ups are bought as you need them within a monthly cycle and aren't sold on annual terms.

Signing up mid-month

If you sign up partway through a month, you get a full allocation for your first month.

Running out of credits

When your allocation runs out, only credit-based AI is affected. The rest of Teamwork.com, including included AI features, keeps working.

  • Usage alerts: Site admins and billing contacts are notified when 85% and 100% of your allocation has been used.
  • Scheduled actions: Scheduled AI actions won't run while the allocation is used up. They resume when your credits refresh or you top up.
  • No top-up needed: You can wait for your allocation to refresh on your next billing date.

Buy more credits

Site admins and billing contacts can buy additional credits from the billing area of your site. Access resumes immediately after you top up.

  • Billed immediately: You're charged at purchase, so a card must be on file.
  • Prepaid only: Credits are prepaid and every top-up is bought deliberately. Nothing is billed in arrears.
  • Manual top-ups: Automatic top-ups aren't available at launch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Existing customers

I've been using TeamworkAI for free. What changes? AI moves from an open preview to a monthly credit allocation included with your plan.

Will I be charged for anything I used during the preview? No. Nothing used during the preview is charged.

Does my price go up? No. Your price only changes if you move plan or buy a top-up.

Do I need to do anything? No. Your allocation applies automatically.

Will I lose any AI features I use today? No. No features are being removed from plans.

My usage is higher than my new allocation. What are my options? You can move to a plan with a larger allocation or buy a top-up. Your account team can review your usage with you before you decide.

Users and seats

Who can use credits? Only fully licensed users can use AI. Collaborators, guests and client users don't consume credits.

Can one person use the whole account's allocation? The balance is shared, so yes. Per-user, per-team and per-project limits aren't available at launch.

What happens to credits used by someone we deactivate? Credits already used aren't returned. Deactivating a user doesn't change your allocation.

Do multiple Teamwork.com sites share one pool? No. Each site has its own allocation. Enterprise agreements can be structured differently.

Plan changes and cancellation

What happens if I upgrade? You get the new plan's allocation immediately. Balances aren't added together.

What happens if I downgrade? The change takes effect at your next renewal. You keep your current allocation until then.

What happens if I switch between monthly and annual billing? Your allocation continues to refresh monthly at the same level.

What happens to purchased credits if I change plan or renew? They're unaffected and keep their 6-month expiry.

What happens if I pause my subscription? Your monthly allocation stops, and a fresh one starts when you reactivate. Purchased credits continue to count down their 6 months.

What happens to my credits if I cancel? Your monthly allocation ends with your subscription, and any purchased credits are lost when access ends.

Are unused or purchased credits refundable? No.

Charges for runs

Am I charged if a run fails? If a run partially completes, you're charged for the work that ran.

Am I charged if I cancel a run, retry it, or don't find the output useful? Yes. Credits are charged when the work is done, whether or not you use the result. Clarifying questions also use credits.

What if I think I've been charged incorrectly? Contact support with the date and the action. Credits can be re-credited where there has been an error.

Trials and free plans

Do trial sites get credits? Yes. Each trial site gets an allocation to try TeamworkAI. Once it's used, you'll be invited to talk to sales or buy a paid plan. Trial credits don't carry over to your paid plan.

Do free plans include AI? No. Included AI features and credit allocations are available on paid plans only.

Admin controls

Can I turn AI off for my site? Yes. Site admins can disable AI for the whole site. Turning off individual features or restricting AI to certain users or roles isn't available at launch.

Can I set a spend limit? No. Credits are prepaid and every top-up is bought manually, so you stay in control of what you spend. Nothing is billed in arrears. Exporting usage data and a usage API aren't available at launch.

Enterprise

How do credits work on an Enterprise agreement? Your allocation is agreed as part of your contract. You can negotiate a custom allocation, commit to an annual volume and draw it down, and pool credits across multiple sites.

Can we pay by invoice or purchase order? Yes. Credit prices are fixed for your contract term, and pricing is linear with no volume discount.

Can we get usage reporting? Usage reporting is available on request.

Data and security

Is our data used to train AI models? No. Customer data is never used to train third-party models.

Which model providers do you use? We use a range of leading providers, selected per feature for quality, cost and speed. Whichever model runs, your data isn't used for training.

Does AI respect user permissions? Yes. AI only works with data the user can already access and can't retrieve data they couldn't otherwise see.

Are prompts and outputs retained? Model providers don't use your data for training and may hold it briefly only for security and abuse monitoring. Teamwork.com retains prompts and outputs in line with our AI policy.

Does AI processing stay in our data region? Yes. AI processing follows the same hosting region policy as the rest of your data. Teamwork.com is SOC 2 compliant.
