Before you start
Many non-task tabs in the Everything area
include filtering, sorting, or similar
controls to help you refine the items shown.
The exact options vary depending on the type
of item you are viewing.
Use filtering when you want to narrow
results by criteria such as project, creator,
date, keyword, or other item-specific
details.
Filter and refine results
Open the relevant tab
- Select Everything in Teamwork.com's
main navigation menu.
- Choose the tab that matches the type of
item you want to review, such as Comments, Messages, Milestones, Risks, Proofs, Forms, or Budgets.
Apply filters
- Click the Filter button in the selected view's top right.
- Choose one or more filter options, such
as keyword, project, creator, date, or
other available fields.
- Apply the selected criteria to narrow the
results.
- Combine filters when needed to create a
more focused view.
The results update based on the filters you
apply, helping you focus on a smaller set of
relevant items across
projects.
Understand filter options
Most non-task filtering in the Everything
area follows the same general pattern, even
though the exact fields differ by tab.
Common filter types can include:
- Keyword or text: Search for items
that match specific words or
phrases.
- Project: Limit results to one or
more projects.
- Creator or author: Focus on items
created or posted by specific
people.
- Date: Narrow results using created,
added, or other date-based
filters.
- Item-specific
fields: Some tabs include filters
that are specific to the item type you
are viewing.
Sort and review results
Many Everything tabs also include sorting
controls that let you review results in a
more useful order, such as by date, name,
project, or another relevant
field.
Use sorting together with filters when you
need to both narrow the items shown and
review them in a more meaningful
order.
Save or reuse filters
If saved filters are available for the item
type you are viewing, you can save commonly
used filter combinations and return to them
later.
Saved filters can be useful when you
frequently review the same type of
cross-project results, such as recent
messages, project-specific forms, or items
created by a specific
person.
Best practices
- Start with the broadest filter:
Begin with a high-level filter such as
project, keyword, or date before adding
more criteria.
- Combine filters carefully: Add
multiple filters only when you need a
narrower result set, since too many
filters can remove relevant
items.
- Use sorting after filtering: Sort
filtered results to review the remaining
items in the most helpful
order.
- Save useful
combinations: Save filters you use
often so you can return to the same view
more quickly.
