Best for
Bulk edit is best for making the same update to multiple active tasks across projects without opening each task individually.

Use when
You want to update several active tasks at once from the Everything > Tasks view.

Before you start

Bulk edit is available from the Tasks view in the Everything area.

You can only bulk edit active tasks. Completed tasks are not included in this workflow.

Your permissions determine:
  • Which projects and tasks you can view.
  • Which tasks you can update in bulk.
  • Which people, teams, companies, and followers can be applied to the selected tasks.
What you can update in bulk depends on your permissions in the selected projects and the tasks included in the selection.
If a filter is applied in the Tasks view, bulk edit only applies to the tasks currently returned by that filter, not every active task across all projects.

Other bulk actions

The bulk actions window also includes additional actions you can apply to selected active tasks. These actions are quicker than Modify because they do not require you to choose task properties first.
  • Move: Move the selected active tasks to a different location or workflow stage.
  • Copy: Copy the selected active tasks.
  • Complete: Mark the selected active tasks as complete.
  • Delete: Delete the selected active tasks.

Limitations

  • Bulk actions only apply to active tasks.
  • If filters are applied in the Tasks view, only the filtered results are included in the bulk action workflow.
  • The available actions depend on your permissions and the selected projects.
  • Assignments and follower changes require active members in the selected projects.

Best practices

  • Filter first: Narrow the Tasks view before opening bulk actions so you only work with the tasks you want to change.
  • Preview your selection: Confirm the correct tasks are included before applying any action.
  • Use Modify for shared updates: Choose Modify when you need to update the same properties across multiple active tasks.
  • Check permissions and membership: Make sure the people, teams, or companies you want to use are available in the selected projects.
