Logging time doesn’t have to mean manually completing every field. Describe the work you completed in your own words and let AI prepare one or more draft time entries for you. Review and adjust the suggested entries before saving them to keep your time records accurate.

Before you start

AI time logging helps reduce the effort of logging time by drafting time entries from a description of the work you completed. You can access the Log time dialog from several areas in Teamwork.com, including tasks, projects, Quick Add, My Timesheet, and the timer. Once the Log time dialog is open, select the Chat tab to draft time entries using AI.
  • AI creates draft entries for review. Suggested entries are not saved until you confirm them.
  • The details AI can suggest depend on the information included in your request and the work available to your user account.
  • You can switch between the Manual and Chat tabs at any time while logging time.
  • You can type your request or, where available, use the microphone to dictate it using voice input.

Describe your work

Use conversational language to describe what you worked on instead of completing each field manually. Include enough context for AI to understand the work and the time you want to record.

Example requests include:
  • Log 30 minutes on the task Header icon alignment fixes.
  • I spent two hours preparing the roadmap and another hour reviewing designs.
  • Log my time for today based on my activity.
More specific requests generally give AI more context when drafting time entries. Always review the drafted details before saving.

Review and edit drafted time entries

Drafted entries appear in the review area before they are saved. Depending on the request, AI may create a single time entry or separate the work into multiple entries.

Review the available details for each drafted entry, including:
  • The associated task or project.
  • The time and duration.
  • The date or time of day.
  • The description.
  • Tags and billable status, where available.

You can edit the drafted entries before saving, remove entries you do not want to keep, or start over with a new request.
Check AI-generated time entries for accuracy before saving, especially when the time is billable or will be used for reporting, invoicing, or client work.

Best practices

  • Include useful context: Mention the task, project, duration, or date when these details matter.
  • Describe separate work clearly: State each activity and its duration when you want AI to create multiple time entries.
  • Review before saving: Confirm the task, project, duration, billable status, and description for each drafted entry.
  • Refine the request when needed: Add more detail or start over if the first drafts do not reflect the work you completed.
