Within the Teamwork.com Beta Program,
you can enable the Gantt Chart Overhaul to
explore the enhanced project Gantt
feature.
In addition to the refreshed design,
the Gantt update includes some enhancements
such as filtering and critical paths.
Enabling Gantt Chart Overhaul
To enable the feature, click your
profile icon in the bottom left corner of your site and
select Settings from the pop-out menu.
Note: Only owner company
site administrators can access the site
settings.
In the settings area, go to the Beta Program subsection where
you will see an option for Gantt Chart
Overhaul.
Toggle the switch on the left to
enable the feature. You can use the dropdown
on the right to choose whether to enable it
for all users on your site or only members of
your owner company.
Once enabled in the Beta Program,
you will see the redesigned Gantt chart when
you open the Gantt tab in an
individual project.
Using the Gantt chart
While viewing your project, select the Gantt tab to access the Gantt chart view.
In addition to tasks and
milestones, the associated task lists will
also be visible in the chart itself, making it
easier to track which tasks belong to each
list.
Full view option
You can optionally expand
to full screen view by clicking the expand
arrows in the upper right of the
chart.
You can also click the three dots at
the top of the Gantt chart and
select Fit-to-window from the
dropdown menu.
Scrolling and zooming
Using your mouse or trackpad to
scroll will move you up and down through
the Gantt chart itself..
To adjust the zoom level for the
Gantt chart, you can use the zoom options
at the bottom of the screen.
Quick set progress
You can quickly adjust the
progress percentage of individual tasks
directly in the Gantt view.
Hover over the bottom left of a
task in the Gantt chart to reveal the hand
icon. Click and drag it to increase the
task's progress. The task bar will show a darker overlay color indicating the selected
percentage vs the length of the
task.
To edit existing progress on a task,
hover over the end point where the progress
currently finishes.
Date visibility
When moving tasks or adjusting
task dates, the new dates will be
displayed on the task bar as you make the
change.
Showing and hiding all tasks
You can quickly show or hide all
tasks within the task lists in the Gantt
chart. Click the three dots in the top
right and select Collapse/Expand
All Task Lists from the
dropdown menu.
When the task lists are collapsed,
you will still see the task list names and any
milestones also displayed.
Undo and redo
When you adjust tasks or dates
in the Gantt chart, you can use the arrows
in the upper right corner to undo/redo
your changes.
Any changes you make during your current page session will be tracked, allowing you to undo/redo. However, refreshing your browser will clear the previous change history and the ability to undo/redo those specific changes.
Adjusting the task lists sidebar
You can show or hide the task
lists sidebar on the left of the Gantt
chart. Hover over the sidebar to reveal
the collapse/expand arrow button. Clicking
this will immediately show/hide the
sidebar.
You can also resize the sidebar manually by hovering over the border line and dragging it to a new position.
Creating task lists
To create a new task list, click
the Add Task
List button in the upper
right of the Gantt view.
Alternatively, click the plus icon at the bottom of the task lists sidebar on the left of the Gantt view.
Once you click either add option, a new
entry will be added to the bottom of the task
lists sidebar where you can type a name for
the list. Press Enter / Return on your
keyboard to create the list.
Filtering
The enhanced Gantt chart view now includes a filters pane, allowing you to filter the tasks being displayed.
Note: Gantt filters are only available on paid per-user subscription plans.
Click the filters button in the top right of the Gantt view to open the filters pane.
Filters include assignee, tags, priority, board column, and date created.
The option to show completed tasks in the Gantt chart is located under the Options section of the advanced filters pane.
Once you select some filter conditions, the chart will update automatically with the filtered results.
Critical path
Using the critical path feature, you can track impact areas on your projects, especially when there is tight scheduling of work. The critical path feature will highlight any tasks that will impact the whole project if they are moved.
Note: The critical path feature is available on per-user Premium/Grow and Scale subscription plans.
Click the three dots in the top right and select Show Critical Path from the dropdown menu.
Any affected tasks will be displayed with a red highlight border.
