Before you
start
You must connect your Teamwork.com
and
Microsoft Teams accounts in order to
create an automation.
π‘ The ability to connect
Teamwork.com to Microsoft Teams
depends on how your Microsoft
administrator
has configured individual users
permissions.
Connecting
to
Microsoft Teams
via automations
- Click Jump to in Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
- Search for and select a project.
- Switch to the List or Table view of the project. These options might be hidden under the More... section.
- Click Automate to open the automations builder.
- Click Browse
Templates.
- Select Microsoft Teams in the Integrations section of the left navigation pane.
- Hover over and select one of the predefined Microsoft Teams templates.
- Click Connect to Teams in the Then section.
- Enter your Microsoft Teams email
address. Already logged in to
Microsoft? The
setup will skip this
step.
- Click Next.
- Click Allow in
the authorization step to grant
Teamwork.com
access to your Microsoft Teams
account.
- Once connected, you are returned to the automation builder where you can start creating a Microsoft Teams automation.
Create an
automation
Initiate new messages to be
posted in
Microsoft Teams when specific
task-related events happen on your
projects.
- Switch to the List or Table view in any project.
- Click Automate at the top of the selected view to open the automations builder.
- Click Custom Automation.a. Alternatively, choose a pre-defined Microsoft teams template and skip to step 6.
- Select a trigger event in the When section.
- Example trigger: Task's priority changes from any to high.
- From the Then section, click the Action field and choose how notification should be sent :
- Notify team in channel - choose a team and channel for posting.
- Notify in Teams chat - choose chat for posting.
- Select an existing Teams channel (or chat) where messages triggered by the automation will be posted. (You will only be able to select channels and chats you have access to within Microsoft Teams).
- Create the message template that will be sent each time a trigger event occurs. Combine static text with dynamic task fields to customize your messages.
- Click Create to save your automation.
Edit,
duplicate,
or delete existing
automations
Existing automations are listed
in
the automations builder.
π‘Only
the creator of a Microsoft Teams
automation can edit the
automation.
- Click Automate at
the
top of a project's List or Table view
to open the automations
builder.
- Select the Manage tab.
- Click the ... (ellipsis).
- Choose the relevant option:
- View & Edit: View and update the automation's criteria.
- Duplicate: Create a copy of the automation.
- Delete: Remove the automation. Deletion too permanent? Use the toggle to activate/deactivate automations instead.
Disconnect your
Microsoft Teams account
- Click Jump to in Teamwork.com's main navigation menu.
- Search for and select a project.
- Switch to the List or Table view of the project. These options might be hidden under the More... section.
- Click Automate to open the automations builder.
- Click Browse
Templates.
- From the Integrations section of the left panel, select Microsoft Teams.
- Hover over and select one of the predefined Microsoft Teams templates.
- Click Disable workspace here from the Then section.
The Microsoft Teams
account is
disconnected and any
associated automations are
paused.

creator of the automation
must reconnect to reactivate
the
automation.
