Within Teamwork Projects, you can use project-specific tags to help manage and organize your projects and project items. 

You can create, edit, merge, and view project-specific tags from both your site settings and within individual projects. 

Note: Owner company administrators and project administrators have access to manage tags within an individual project. 

To manage project-specific tags in a project, go to the project’s Settings area and select the Tags tab. 



Within the Tags area, you can search existing tags by name, sort the existing tags list, and create a new tag. 





Creating a project-specific tag 

To create a new tag for your project, select the green +Add New Tag option. The New Tag modal will enable you to create a tag name and select a color. 



The Project Specific toggle will be enabled by default and can not be removed. Any tags created within this area will be specific to the project you are in. 


Editing a project-specific tag

To edit an existing project tag, select the tag from the list within the Tags area. The options menu will appear to the right of the search bar. 



Click the edit pencil icon to amend the tag name, change color, or convert to a site-level tag.

Note: Once converted to a site-level tag, the tag will be removed from the previously-associated project’s Tags area. 


Merging project-specific tags

If you select more than one tag from the list, you will see the pencil icon change to allow you to merge those tags. 


Selecting the merge icon allows you to combine all selected tags into one single tag. You will have the option to name this new tag before merging. 

Once merged, the overall count of the individual tags will appear on the newly created one.

Project items using the old merged tags will now be tagged with the new tag.


Viewing tagged items

To view project items using specific tags, select the tags you wish to search from the list available to highlight them. 

From the options menu, select the search icon. 


You will then be taken to the advanced search area, detailing the associated project items.


Deleting a project-specific tag

To delete a tag, select the tag to be deleted. From the options menu located to the right of the search bar, click the trash can icon. A popup modal will appear asking you to confirm the deletion of the selected tags. 



Note: Once a tag is deleted, it will be removed from any associated item(s) it had been applied to. 


Using a project-specific tag 

When applying a tag to any project item, a tags dropdown will open with all of your existing tags. Any existing project-specific tags for the project you are in will be listed first, with site-level tags available below. To hide site-level tags from the modal, click Hide



Filtering project-specific tags

When filtering certain project items within a project, the tags filter option will display project-specific tags first, followed by any site-level tags. 



Note: Project Specific tags are available on all paid plans.
